"Things I Learned at the Point"

is a preview to a new set of paintings both in Watercolour and Acrylics which attempts to express my time spent at and around a Point which pushes out into Lake Huron on French Bay in Sauble Beach Ontario. Lovingly called "Walter Bay" by the "Cottage Crew" (and you know who you are), is a place where I have spent much of my time painting in recent years. It is a place where I go to relax and be alone, and connect with nature and and my spiritual side. A place I become whole. Here I feel small compared to the fury of lake huron and its Trees and wind. Yet I feel so part of this place now when I go there...that I am just another rock, tree, or seagull. Even in the cold winter months this point is magical as if it where a vast open Arctic Tundra. I have found it a healing place for me in a busy world with its arms always open to me to come and stay for awhile. And it is only awhile I stay for hard winds, hot sun, crashing waves, and frost bite are its price to stay. These paintings are my way of connecting to the point, and learning all the things in its small but complex world it can teach me.
