I‘VE HAD THE WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY OF WORKING WITH THE Waterloo Catholic District School Board for the past six months. I was hired to help rework, recode and redesign many parts of the public wedsite so that it matched the look and feel of the main sites new design.
In particular the Business section of the website was a project given to me to help reorganize the content, look and feel of this department. Managing the content was the biggest challenge for us as there was a large amount of information that had to be organized in a way that was easy to read and navigate without getting lost. The current organization was a page after page layout which was cumbersome and difficult to navigate. My solution was to employ some ajax functions and the use of tabbed panels to reorganize the content so that the page never refreshed and the user always new there location within the navigation.

As you can see we have a left main navigation with different deptartments, and a main sub navigation within each department and another sub navigation underneath in various tabs depending on the content of the tab. The user knows where they are at all times through the use of the highlighted words and only the information in the tab would refresh not the page when clicked on.
I was also contracted out by the community use of schools, Co-op, and Newcomers departments to help redesign its portion of the main site. They wanted a fresh new identity while keeping with the overall feel of the main sites design. I implemented some new flash banners and graphics that freshened up the sections.

Thanks to all at WCDSB and all there help and support throughout my time there. Special thanks to Darcy as a teacher and a friend.
