"It started as a house, these flowers, this car and as I began to paint, it became so much more. It became a conduit for thoughts and feelings"

James Gummerson

"The Letter"

30" x 24" inches

Acrylic on canvas

It began on a quiet morning walk. I was struck by how alive those flowers still were—enduring late into the year. The morning sun cast long, dramatic shadows, and suddenly the scene began to speak to me.

Everything felt alive, in motion—a sense of connection between the flowers, the house, and the car. They became a metaphor for my own experience of life at that time: beauty, endurance, and change.

When the painting was finished, it carried both warmth and a quiet sense of loss.

Even after I brought it to the gallery, its presence lingered in my studio. It still does. Its memory remains.
